Essential cookies

These are required for Captain's Words to work. They support parent and staff authentication, child play sessions, paired family devices and school student sessions.

Speech (read aloud and spelling)

Read aloud and Hear word during spelling are notCaptain's Words cookies. When enabled, short audio is sent to our speech provider OpenRouter (routing to OpenAI models) for transcription or playback. We store the resulting text transcript with learning data, not the audio.

If server speech is not enabled, read aloud may use the browserspeech recognition service (on Chrome and Edge, often Google's servers) instead. See our privacy policy for details.

Analytics and marketing cookies

We may use privacy-friendly analytics (Plausible) to understand how visitors use our public pages. Plausible does not use cross-site tracking cookies. If we add other analytics or marketing cookies, we will update this page and add consent controls where required.

Managing cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but essential login and play features may stop working correctly.
